This cute tiny thing is great! I have a regular sewing machine, but I wanted something to try on paper and while traveling. I have not used this on fabric yet except once sewing fabric to paper. It has gone through glue... Just go slow. The thread does get caught on the tensioner- it's too tight sometimes, but you loosen it a bit and it's ok. Play with it, you figure out the kinks. Already having sewing experience did help me figure its annoyances out. If you find using it fast is difficult, try turning the wheel by hand. People do slow stitching... Hand stitching. You can do slow stitching with a machine. Just turn the wheel towards yourself while guiding the paper/ fabric. You have more control, less likely to jumble the thread, and it's still easier than hand stitching.

Purchased this for an 8 year old who wanted to learn to use a sewing machine. It comes with clear instructions. It is a little strange that it offers the option of using a foot pedal, but does not provide one. There are two speeds, and at first the low speed felt a bit too quick for her but as she learned how to navigate it we saw quickly that it was a good speed for what she wants to do. This is portable, easy to store, and operates on 4 AA batteries. Worth the money spent!

My eight year old Granddaughter wasn't sure she would like a sewing machine as she had never done sewing before. Well after a few lessons with her Mom, she loved it. I also gave her some fabric, pins, and thread so she would have more than what came with the machine. Her Mom gave her a large bag of stuffing. She makes soft squishy little pillow type gifts for her friends. She seems to have taken to sewing with this easy to learn child's sewing machine.
